Indian Ambassador on an official visit of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic to discuss bilateral cooperation
Ambassador of India in Azerbaijan, Sanjay Rana is on an official visit to Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic from 31 May to 02 June 2018. Ambassador laid flowers on the monument of great leader Heydar Aliyev and familiarized himself with the museum on his life. Ambassador met with the Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan, Mr. Vasif Talibov and discussed the proposals for enhancing bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy, trade and investment, agriculture, education and culture.
Ambassador Rana had a meeting with Economy Minister, Famil Seyidov at the Nakhichivan Business centre where he was provided information about significant achievements of Nakhchivan in the fields of economic activities, entrepreneurship and exports. Ambassador informed the Minister Seyidov of India's keenness to develop cooperation in focus areas such as non-oil industry, renewable energy, pharmaceuticals. healthcare, capacity building and ICT.
Ambassador Rana met with Agriculture Minister Elshad Aliyev and informed him about India's proven expertise in the agricultural field, particularly in increasing the yields in production of crops such as pomengranates, grapes, cotton and tobacco. He informed the Minister about the international expertise and experience of Indian companies and their interest to participate in irrigation and water management related projects in Azerbaijan. He also briefed minister about Indian companies producing world-class agricultural machinery.
In a meeting with Minister of Culture and Tourism, Natavan Gadimova, Ambassador briefed her about Indian Film festival and Indian cultural events being planned to be held in Nakhchivan in the later part off the year 2018. Minister informed Ambassador about the events being organised by Nakhichivan as the capital of Islamic culture.
Ambassador Rana visited the Nakhchivan State University and Nakhchivan University and met with the Rectors, Faculties and students. He expressed India's interest in developing cooperation between Indian and the universities of Nakhchivan. In this regard, he invited the Faculty and students of these Universities to participate in training courses and scholarships in India under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme. In the context of the world-wide celebration of the 4th International Day of Yoga on 21 June 2018, Ambassador spoke about mental and physical benefits of Yoga and Yoga teacher Elchin Guliyev conducted brief yoga sessions with students and Faculty members of the Universities in Nakhichivan.
