As part of the on-going celebrations of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, who was promoter of conservation of environment and cleanliness; Embassy of India in Baku, in association with Sabail District Administration, Baku Executive Power, organized a Tree Plantation Event on 05 June 2019 on the occasion of the ‘World Environment Day’ at Friendship Park, Sabail, Baku.
The plantation event, was inaugurated by the address of Ambassador of India, Mr. B. Vanlalvawna, who spoke about Gandhiji and his principles highlighting importance of environmental conservation and creation of green belt to the participants followed by the planting of 150 olive saplings in the green filed created for the purpose. The event was also addressed by Mr. Vugar Shikhammadov, Deputy Mayor of Sabail district and attended by over 100 participants from different walks of life like Government officials, Diplomats, members from Azeri & resident Indian community, children and media fraternity. Other prominent dignitaries who participated in the event were Mr. Mirhasan Hasanov, Representative of Baku Executive Power; Mr. Gheorghe Leuca, Ambassador, Embassy of Moldova; Ms. Simona Haeberli, Cd’A Embassy of Switzerland and Mr. Vladimir Gjorgjiev, Chief of IOM Azerbaijan.
