Welcome to the Visa Service of the Embassy of India, Baku.
The applicants seeking for visa services are henceforth requested to file their application online. Please click here for visa application or visit https://indianvisaonline.gov.in After filling up the application online, applicant needs to bring the hard copy of application form along with passport size photographs on the date of appointment to the visa section of the Embassy. Applicant needs to appear before visa officer in person for interview along with necessary fee for the visa services. This is applicable to all types of passport holders and various types of visa services.
LAUNCH OF SU-SWAGATAM (VISIT INDIA) MOBILE APP
1. The Government of India has launched a Mobile App SU-SWAGATAM on Google Play Store for Android users and App Store for IOS users to facilitate the visits of foreigners to India.
2. The App integrates many services like Visa Applications ( for e-visa and Regular Visa), e-FRRO portal for extension of visa, Residential Permit, Exit Permit as well. This App also enable users about other useful information like Tourist Places, Government Agencies, Transport Services, Places of Entertainment, Health Services, Religious Places, Lodging, Food and Shopping Centers etc.
3. Initially this Mobile App has been launched for Business, Medical and Medical Attendant Visas. Foreigners are advised to use this Mobile App for the aforesaid services and make their stay to India hassle free.
The Indian Embassy in Baku, Azerbaijan grants visas to Azerbaijan, Georgian (Tourist, Business and Others) and nationals of other countries, resident in Azerbaijan, intending to visit India for transit, tourist, business and other purposes, in accordance with the rules and regulations governing the same.
Visa service is open from 0930 hours to 1230 hours on all working days except Holidays . After completion of the service requested, respective passports can be collected between 1530 and 1700 hours on the date indicated. Fees for visa service are accepted at the Embassy in cash in AZN ONLY .
The principal types of visas issued are Tourist Visa, Business visa, Student and Employment visa and Entry visa. Please contact the Consular Section of Embassy of India, Baku for further details if you are visiting India for purposes other than tourism, such as journalism, movie/documentary filming, conferences, research work, mountaineering or other expeditions.
GENERAL VISA REQUIREMENTS
- Original passport valid for at least six months
- Prescribed visa fee [in AZN only] [Visa Fees Schedule]
- Two Recent coloured photographs (5cmx5cm) with white background.
- Supporting documents, where necessary
- Visa Application from the spouse of an Indian national should be accompanied with a copy of the Indian passport (first and the last laminated pages) of the spouse and marriage certificate dully attested.
Important Information for Visa Applicants

Government of India has devised a new Visa application system from January 26, 2022. As per the new system, the visa applicants are required to directly upload related Visa supporting documents Online in the visa system at the time of filling-up visa applications. The visa applicants will be unable to complete visa application submission process without uploading the required visa supporting documents. After completing the online submission, it is required to take out visa applications print and submit to the Embassy of India, Baku as it is in practise.
- It would normally take 3-4 working day to issue visa to Azerbaijani Nationals.
- In the following cases processing of applications will take longer:
- Applicants not resident in Azerbaijan or applicant holding nationality other than that of Azerbaijan [Minimum 5 working days required.]
- Where clearance from India/Indian Mission/Post is mandatory
- Visitors to restricted areas
- Certain cases where documents may need to be verified
- Fee once paid is not refundable.
- Once the visa is issued no alterations/changes are possible.
- Full visa fee is payable for each child whose name is included in parent's passport and is travelling with the parent..
- Overstay i.e. stay beyond the period of validity of visa is a serious violation of visa rules and may result in denial of visa in future
- Carrying and use of THURAYA and other such satellite phones are illegal in India.
Please note that each application is examined individually and the time taken for issuing visas will vary from case to case.
Types of visas
TOURIST VISA
A tourist visa can only be granted to a foreigner who does not have a residence or occupation in India and whose sole objective of visiting India is recreation, sightseeing, casual visit to meet friends and relatives. No other activity is permissible on a Tourist Visa. The Tourist visa is non-extendable and non-convertible.

- Cabin crews/Pilots - ID card copy.
- Housemaids/Servants- NOC from Sponsor and Sponsor’s passport copy.
- Journalist – Copy of ID card/ Press Accreditation card and letter from Azeri Company stating that they will be going for Tourism purpose only.
- The production of a return ticket/onward journey ticket.

GUIDELINES : The validity of the visa is effective from the date of issue. The Embassy reserves the right to ask for additional documents. Submission of application along with prescribed fee does not guarantee issuance of visa.
PHOTOGRAPH SPECIFICATIONS: Online India Visa Application allows the Applicant to upload a digital photograph of self to complete the Regular visa application.
Guidelines/procedure to upload a digital photograph
The digital photograph to be uploaded along with the Visa application should meet the following requirements:
- Format – JPEG
- Size
- Minimum 10 KB
- Maximum 300 KB
- The height and width of the Photo must be equal.
- Photo should present Full face, front view, eyes open.
- Center head within frame and present full head from top of hair to bottom of chin.
- Background should be plain light colored or white background.
- No shadows on the face or on the background.
- Without borders.
- Make sure that photo presents full head from top of hair to bottom of chin. Head should measure 1 inch to 1-3/8 inches (25mm to 35mm). Make sure eye height is between 1-1/8 inches to 1-3.
BUSINESS VISA
Business Visa is normally granted for the requested duration or three or six months. However, multiple-entry Business Visas for up to two years validity may be granted to technicians/experts going to India in pursuance of bilateral agreements or joint venture projects having government approval. validity is maximum up to 6 months/up to 1 year/more than 1 year, respectively. A letter from the Azerbaijani company explaining the details of the company, nature of business with the Indian company and duration of business visa and a letter of invitation from an Indian company (fax/email accepted) should be submitted. The letter of invitation from the Indian company should also be faxed/emailed by it directly to the Indian Embassy in advance. The issue of the Business Visa will depend upon the fullfillment of the all required formalities, submission of all required documents and verification of the submitted documents. This process may take a few working days. All applicants are requested and advised to suitably apply and submit all the required documents much in advance for smooth visa facilitation. STUDENT VISA
Student visa can be obtained on furnishing proof of admission to recognized universities/institutions in India. For students, visa valid up to one year Letter of admission from a recognized educational institution [Educational Opportunities link] with duration of the course required in all cases. A letter of financial guarantee from a parent with their passport/I.card and details of their profession should be submitted by the applicant. The Embassy may wish to obtain any other document to satisfy itself about the financial soundness of the applicant.
All foreigners including foreigners of Indian origin, entering India on Student visa (STV) will be required to get themselrves registered with concerned Registration Officer within 14 days of his/her first arrival, irrespective of the duration of thier stay.
TRANSIT VISA
Transit visa is valid for 15 days from the date of issue of the visa and must be obtained before departure. Transit Visa cannot be obtained from immigration counters at ports of entry in India. Evidence of onward travel to a destination outside India is required. Visa for the destination country should be obtained prior to applying for transit visa. Confirmed ticket for destination country should also be produced for Transit visa. visa (Single/Double Entry), would be valid for halts of up to 72 hours within 15 days from date of issue. [This visa is issued only for changing of flights en route to another country]. Evidence of onward travel from Indian port of entry is required.
Seaman are granted Transit visa to join their vessels in India on their Seaman Book and they should carry a valid International passport with them.
EMPLOYMENT VISA
Employment visa is granted on production of an Employment contract from the Employer in India which should indicate all the terms and conditions of employment in India, including duration of the contract, Salary, Accommodation, Medical, Income tax liability etc.. A copy of the educational qualification of the applicant and proof of professional expertise is also required to be submitted. A copy of the invitation letter with respect to the applicant should also reach Embassy directly by fax/email from the Indian company. Fee will depend on the duration of the visa for up to six months/upto a maximum of 1 year. The issue of the Employment Visa will depend upon the fulfillment of the all required formalities, submission of all required documents and verification of the submitted documents. JOURNALIST VISA
Journalists of Accredited Press organizations and Newspapers can travel to India on a Journalist Visa. Their Application should be accompanied by letter from their employers giving details of the assignment the Journalist has been entrusted. Normally, Journalist Visa is granted after clearances from the concerned authorities in India, which may take a few weeks.
Journalists proceeding on tour to cover events or make documentary films etc., will have to fill up additional forms giving details of the documentary film, script, an undertaking and list of equipments that the delegation will carry.
ENTRY VISA
Long Term/Entry Visas are issued to persons of Indian origin for duration of up to five years. These can be obtained, depending on the purpose of visit and eligibility, on a case-by-case basis.
CONFERENCE VISA
A letter of invitation from the conference organiser should be submitted along with a sponsorship letter from Employer.
Please note that persons holding long-term visas (having validity exceeding six months) are normally not expected to stay in India more than six months during each visit. Please refer to the section further down for requirement to register with the Foreigners Registration Office (FRO)/Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) in India.
Registration with Foreigners Registration Office (FRO)/ Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO)
Persons of Indian origin holding multiple entry X-visas, visiting India to meet relatives or for social purposes, are required to register with the FRO/FRRO within 14 days of first arrival only if they intend to stay continuously for more than six months. This registration is required during the first visit after the visa is issued. Subsequent travels using the same visa do not require registration. Children below the age of 16 years are exempt from this requirement. All other visitors to India, including those of Indian origin, holding any other category of visa valid for more than six months should register with the FRO/FRRO within 14 days of arrival in India.

Transfer of visa
Fee of AZN 7/- is charged for transfer of long term visa issued by this Embassy, from an expired passport to a new passport. Both the expired and new passports have to be submitted in original along with a separate application form.
MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION
Visitors to restricted/protected areas in India areas like Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Parts of Himachal Pradesh, Parts of Jammu & Kashmir and Parts of Rajasthan need special permits and for this purpose an additional form has to be completed. Please contact the Consular Section of this Embassy, if you wish to ascertain whether any of the places you intend to visit fall in the category of restricted/protected areas.
Satellite telephone services are not permitted in India. Tata Communications Limited is permited to provide Inmarsat services in India, which is being done through their Land Earth Station (LES) at Dighi (Pune) after a no objection certificate is issued by DOT on a case-to-case basis. Satellite telephony through Thuraya sets is unauthorised. Therefore, whenever Thuraya sets are detected to be in use, they should be seized and the holder can be prosecuted under section 6 of Indian Wireless Act and Section 20 of Indian Telegraph Act. Under the law, people including foreign nationals found to be making unauthorised use of satellite telephone services will be prosecuted and all the sets found in possession of any individual will be seized.
VISA FEE AND ADDITIONAL CHARGES
Visa fees are non-refundable and subject to change without notice. The Embassy of India, Baku reserves the right on granting and deciding type/duration of visa irrespective of the fees tendered at the time of making application.
